Hello, I'm Liam
I work at the intersection of art and design, where imagination meets purpose. Whether it’s bold, strategic design or abstract artwork that sparks curiosity, I bring thoughtful, impactful creativity to everything I take on.
As a designer, I specialise in precise, strategic solutions, shaping everything from branding to website design. As an artist, I create balanced compositions that blend structure and playfulness, exploring themes of the human experience in pieces that are visually striking and invite reflection.
Over the years, my work has been recognised with awards such as Painter of the Year by The Arts Gallery Rotterdam and Artfinder’s Sculpture of the Year. I’m also a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers, and my creative projects have been honoured with awards like the Cornwall Film Festival 'Edge Award' and the Festival of Ideas 'Best Film'.
For me, whether I’m designing for a client or creating a new piece of art, it’s about connection. Design simplifies the complex, solving problems and communicating ideas with clarity; art inspires, evoking emotion and wonder. Both share a common goal: to resonate with people and create experiences.
Artist Statement
My work is rooted in a love of simplicity, structure and the balance between order and play. With a background in design, I’m drawn to distilling things down to their core elements, using shape and form to explore the spaces we inhabit and how we interact with the world around us. I create abstract wood reliefs, paintings and prints that are carefully composed and built to feel considered, calm and harmonious, while still holding a sense of energy and movement.
I often begin with something small and intuitive, like a combination of colours, a shape I’ve noticed in my environment or a fleeting moment I want to hold onto. These fragments become a visual language that I work with, building compositions that aim to communicate a mood or memory through form. Colour plays a big role in my work, whether that’s a bold choice or the decision to hold back entirely and let shape and shadow take the lead.
Although my work is often described as geometric abstract or minimalist, I try not to lean too heavily into definitions. For me, it’s about finding a rhythm and flow that feels right, where each element has a reason to be there. Recently I’ve been exploring more colour in my relief works, which is opening up new possibilities and directions within the format.
